Far East National Bank Awards $13,500 to California High School Seniors in Scholarship Program

Los Angeles, CA – July 7, 2014 – Far East National Bank announced that it awarded $13,500 to twenty-five high school seniors in California through its college scholarship program for the 2013-2014 school year.

Far East National Bank launched its college scholarship program in recognition of the social, cultural, and economic significance of higher education to the communities it serves. Integral to the success of the program were partnerships with local community organizations including the Arcadia Chinese Association, the Chinatown Service Center, the Joint Alumni Association of Chinese Universities and Colleges in Northern California, the Jeffrey Ron Gu Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Orange County Chinese American Chamber of Commerce, and the Upward Bound Study Center. With the strong support of these organizations, Far East National Bank identified outstanding students that not only demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, but also exhibited a solid commitment to serving others in their community.

Scholarships were personally presented to each student by representatives of Far East National Bank at awards assemblies, receptions, and banquets throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, and Silicon Valley. The scholarship recipients reflected the diversity of the state, representing a variety of ethnicities and hailing from different socio-economic backgrounds. The inspirational high school seniors will attend community colleges, state colleges and universities, and private colleges and universities in the fall.

“Far East National Bank firmly believes that by practicing and promoting corporate social responsibility, we can step beyond our role as a provider of financial services and become an integral part of the backbone of our local communities,” said Alton Wang, President of Far East National Bank. “We are honored to recognize and support a diverse group of youth that not only strove for academic excellence, but also took great strides to make positive contributions to their communities.”
