Far East National Bank Donates $92,950.88 to Typhoon Morakot Relief Efforts

Los Angeles, CA – September 3, 2009 -- Far East National Bank announced that they donated $92,950.88 to Typhoon Morakot relief efforts in a company-wide campaign that spanned across the Pacific Rim.

Chairman, CEO & President of Far East National Bank, Mr. Frederick C. Copeland Jr., presented the donation check during an official visit to Mr. Chung-Chen Kung, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles. The donation check totaling $92,950.88 will be used for the TECOLA 88 Flood Disaster Relief Effort Team Charitable Trust, a fund that will be used for victim relief and reconstruction efforts. Far East National Bank matched all donations, dollar by dollar, made by employees and customers, totaling $46,475.44. Far East National Bank matched those donations and contributed an additional $46,475.44.

SinoPac Holdings of Taiwan, the parent company of Far East National Bank, implemented two initiatives to show their support. Through the “One Day of Salary; More Hope for Recovery” program, SinoPac Holdings employees were encouraged to donate the equivalent of up to one day’s salary to the relief efforts. Over 2,766 employees pledged 3,403 days’ salary to the cause totaling $750,000. The second initiative was a massive effort by employees to volunteer 2 to 3 working days in the recovery efforts, with transportation and other expenses paid by SinoPac Holdings. Over 316 employees volunteered a total of 746 days. The Board of Directors and Senior Management made an additional pledge of NT $1,300,000.

Far East National Bank and SinoPac Holdings commend their employees, customers, and community members for their generosity and will continue to offer support to those affected by the typhoon.
