Job Description:

This position is responsible for the business development function and retention of small business clients of the Bank, including cold calling of potential borrowers; calling customers and new prospects to develop and expend account relationships; develop quality referral sources; and participating in community and civic organizations and activities to enhance the Bank’s image and visibility.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit with clients and prospective clients regularly, interview and analyze the financial structure of customers and prospects and recommends product or applicable services. Assist customers with completing loan applications. Obtain and analyze credit reports. Obtain and review financial statements, cash flow, and tax returns.
  • Analyze financial statements, revise collateral, documents and processes SBA and commercial loans application and make recommendations regarding credit request, refers to immediate supervisor. Ensures that proper documentation is prepared for loans granted, in order to secure the Bank’s position and comply with all regulations.
  • Plan strategy on acquisition of customers and proactively seek for cross-sell opportunities to existing small business customer relationships in local markets, as well as, responsibility for new business development. Documenting calling efforts and new customer relationships. Focus on SBA loan generation, deposit, cash management and related finance and banking opportunities.
  • Represent the Bank in community functions. Attend to outside and after-hours meetings of various civic and trade organizations. Perform presentations promoting Bank services.

KNOWLEDGE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field combined with minimum of three to five years of experience in SBA or commercial lending and/or business development/ selling.
  • Strong business development, credit risk assessment and transaction structuring skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements of businesses in order to understand and meet their needs, as well as, the ability to make sound credit decisions is essential.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to demonstrate a well developed sales skill set, able to identify, pursue and close on new business opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, communications, and customer service skills are required for maintaining effective relationships with employees and customers.
